In addition Andalene will also assist by making time available to train the teachers involved in these creches on certain relevant topics.

In South Africa today, we have a large proportion of our population who are struggling with poverty, living in areas where access to and opportunities to improve their situation is scarce. In these poor socio-economic areas there is limited stimulation of young children and therefore their brain development is generally inadequate.  In addition, the average conditions at home are often devoid of stability and not conducive to brain stimulation. This is especially true of AIDS orphans.

 To address the above mentioned problem Durbanville Family Church are starting a teacher training programme in Wallacedene. The aim of the programme is to give the teachers the necessary skill  to stimulate the children better in these crèches. They are planning to train 22 teachers which will impact 1000 children’s lives.

 They meet the teachers once a week and address the following topics:

• Daily Programme
• Sport and kinetika
• Handling of Special needs children
• Nutrition
• Arts and crafts
• Discipline
• Parenting Skills
• First Aid
• Child Abuse
• The use of drama in classroom
